Define Web Hosting ?

Entire information of a company or an organization is made into web pages and uploaded into a sever by renting space and bandwidth through a web servicing company, and the same can be shown to the visitor on the Internet online is Web Hosting.

There are free hosting services where the revenue is derived through advertisements where you website will contain a 3rd party Advertisement and Paid Web hosting in which no other content will appear on the web pages. Explanation of a Domain Name.

A domain name is a name given to a website. There 2 types of domain names. One is a Top Level Domain (TLD) and the other is the Sub-Domain. The TLD has to be registered with a Domain Registrar for a fee and there are multiple extensions available in the industry as of now.

The main TLDs are .com, .net and .org and there are country level TLDs such as .us, .ca, .uk, .co.uk, .com.sg, .net.sg, .in, .co.in and etc.. Each of these domains can be registered by any person, company or an organization with Domain Registrars for a fee on a yearly basis. The prices vary Registrar to Registrar and you will find each of these extension are priced differently as well.

The Sub-domains are created under a TLD. For example www.yourname.ezveb.com is a Sub Domain of EZVEB.COM . There sub domains are free of cost and they are individual domains with no effect on the TLD. Normally a Hosting Company offer Sub Domains free of cost to the clients who feel that they do not need a TLD as there is a cost involved in the TLD registration.

A few organization use sub domains for more effective hosting need. For example at Ezveb we use cp.ezveb.com a Sub Domain with our Control Panel hosted in this location. Mail.ezveb.com runs our mail server. Dom.ezveb.com is used specifically to register domains.

How do I Register a Domain Name ?

One has to choose a name that fits your taste, goes along with the business or may be to one’s liking. Then visit http://dom.ezveb.com for registration. Here you will find the chosen domain is available for registration. As mentioned earlier in the FAQ there are many extensions available with our registry.

Once you find the availability our web pages will guide you through the registration process. Finally you will have to pay according to your purchase through our Payment gateway by using your Credit Card or Pay Pal.

After successfully completing the above process your domain will be active with immediate effect.

Do I have to Change my Domain name if I am shifting from another server to Ezveb ?

When domain names are registered you need to pass the information of the Primary and Secondary Server name and Internet Protocol (IP) address. This will define where your domains are being parked for hosting.

When you migrate you need to change the Server Address to the new Server then the domains will point to the new server.

With these information one can understand that a domain name can be registered for life and the hosting server can be changed time to time as per your needs.

What is Domain Parking ?

Domain parking means that you may register a domain name and still not ready for hosting. You may park a domain pointing to Ezveb and leave it as it is. No one will be able to visit the domain. Our clients can also add these domains and there will a automatically created page appearing when the domains is visited. This automated page can also be edited or a complete new page can be uploaded with little information about the domain.

Most of the Hosting companies offer unlimited Space, Transfer and Bandwidth, does Ezveb provide such packages ?

Ezveb does not offer any Unlimited packages as there is cost for every service. A few hosting companies offer these Unlimited packages to woo clients. In most cases hosting clients do not use most of the space, traffic and bandwidth. Hosting companies take advantage of such under used domains and live with it.

What does Space, Transfer and Bandwidth mean ?

Space mean the actual Disk Space allocated to you in the Hard Disk to place your files, which constitute your website. Web pages along with the images and a few programming such as Contact form etc. will have to designed and programmed and uploaded into Ezveb’s server. The Space allocated to you will be totally under your control with a FTP server user name Password. At Ezveb we do limit the space according to the plan we have mentioned in our website.

Bandwidth is the size of the Internet Pipe we posses to allow the file move out of our server and into our server. As we possess enormous amount of bandwidth such as OC3 and multiple of T3 connectivity the connectivity will never be a bottle neck in our case. The only other factor we need to look into is Data Transfer. This is the amount of data the server will allow your web site to allow your visitors in a month’s time. Every visitor hits your page the size of the page is downloaded form the server. All such downloads are added and calculated in Giga Bytes. The permissible amount of such transfer in a particular package must not exceed in any one particular month.

Ezveb’s automated program will automatically stop your web site if the Data Transfer exceeds the allowed sum in the package you have opted for.

Ezveb suggests you must keep a track of your Data Transfer every day to decide if you need additional Transfer in order to have the website running without any stoppages. The more you consume the Data Transfer means there are more visitors to your web site.

What is Log report and tracking of Hits ?

Log report is generated by the Web server. This will let you read how many visitors have visited your web site. This report can be sorted to read page wise, country wise and time wise. This will help you analyse who has visited your website and at what time and from which part of the world.

Hits are the same data as Log reports. You may count how many visitors have visited your website date wise, time wise and country wise as well.

Ezveb’s automated program gives our clients a powerful web control panel where our clients can create all these fields by touch a button and view the details.

Do I need Statistics and what is all about it?

If you need to analyze who is visiting your site and how many times a particular visitor has originated from an IP then you need Statistics. At Ezveb we provide AWSTATS for all our clients. Our clients can create the statistics through our Control Panel.

Can I reduce the amount of Data Transfer?

Yes. You have to optimize the web pages from the current size to much lesser than that and if the file sizes of your can be reduced you may reduce your bandwidth considerably.

I do not have experience in creating a Website, does Ezveb help me in this regard ?

Yes. There are many website developing companies who are in our panel of web designers. We will recommend you if you are in need of them. There are site builder programs available in your control panel and in the near future we are in the process of creating a website template with many designs where our clients can make use of the facility

How do I upload my files to my allocated space in the Server ?

The most easiest way to Upload files is through a FTP client at your side in your computer. There are many free and paid FTP clients such at FTPX, Cute FTP and WIN FTP. You need to configure the FTP client after successfully installing in your local computer by supplying Host address or Name, User name and Password which Ezveb will provide you. Once you configure these details you will be able to connect to the remote server and in particular you will be guided to your Disk Space.

There will be 2 windows in most of the FTP clients, on to your left will be your local computer and the files to be uploaded and on to your right will be the window displaying the remote server.

Select one or more files and drop them to the remote window from your local computer. The FTP client will start uploading the files to your remote computer. Most of the FTP clients show the transfer graphically.
Other than this method there are FTP possibilities through DOS mode and FTP:// though a browser. Our Control panel also supports FTP through Borwser.

What is uptime ?

Uptime means the server being available online throughout 24 hours 30 days a month. If a server is available 24 X 30 or 31 days of a month this means 100% uptime. Any robust hardware of any make needs to reboot to flush out the memory and clear the cache. When the reboot or flushing takes place the server might stop for few seconds. His means virtually 100% of uptime is not obtainable.

Most hosting companies offer 99.99% uptime due to these reboots and flushing of memories and Cache files.

At Ezveb we offer both 99.9% and 100% uptime, with the help of secondary server which will take all requests to premium domains. Those clients with critical website may choose 100% uptime with additional payment. Clients who need 100% uptime may contact us through Email to get the pricing.

How can I run Flash files on my website ?

Flash files have to be designed by you and just uploaded into our server. These files when downloaded by a visitor they will work fine as far as the browser has the Flash plug-in installed properly. This action is taken place in the client side, hence there is nothing to do with the remote server.

Can I use Java Applets and Java Scripts on my website ?

Yes. These are client-side technologies, as mentioned above there is no server side configuration needed. The visitor browser much support these with proper plug-ins installed.

What is ASP, .NET, PHP and PERL ?

All these are scripting languages to do a program and are referred to by their acronyms.

ASP - Active Server Pages
.NET- Is a technology from Microsoft
PHP - PHP: Hypertext Pre Preprocessor
Perl – A third party Scripting language

All the above programming language has their own advantages and uses. At Ezveb we support all the above scripts and you may choose the best suitable one for your need.

Can I run my own software on my website ?

No. We do not allow any private software to be installed. However ASP, .NET, PHP and PERL scripts of your own programming can run on our servers. If there are nay .dll files need to be registered, Ezveb will do this after our clients send the full documents of the construction of the .dll file and a full test will be done by our Server Admin. Once we find there will no indefinite loop or any extra resource from the CPU is not drained, Ezveb will allow the .dll to be registered.

Will there be forced Advertising on my Website by you ?

Forced Banner ads will appear only a free web hosting services. Ezveb does not place any ads on your website.

What is MS SQL and MySQL ?

MS SQL and MySQL are database systems. Both these are supported in all Ezveb servers. You may choose the best database suitable for your application.

Can I get a DSL line and host my site in my own server ?

Yes. You can do your own hosting. There are several other hardware and software other than just one computer and an Operating system to host a site which can be published on the internet. Most of the ISPs do not allow hosting on a DSL connection as this will take most of the bandwidth. Legally a DSL connection is meant for an office or home for browsing needs and not to host a server.

All hosting companies are connected with high data transfer capacity with OC3, OC12 or Multiple T3 connections. Where compared with these a DSL connection is too small to handle hosting servers.

There will be no data security in a DSL line connection as your IP will be public and can be reached by hackers easily. At a Data Centre we install Routers in multiple numbers and firewalls at different levels. We also need a 24 hours backup power to have the hardware up and running at all times. Therefore configuring a server on a DSL connectivity is not advisable.

My site is Database Driven. Is there a customized package available ?

Customised Package is not required to host a Database Driven Website at Ezveb. You can choose any one of the Packages suitable with the pricing denoted and host your site. Most of our Packages have Database connectivity option both with MS SQL and MySQL.

Do I need a Static IP Address for my site ? Please Specify.

A simple Website does not need a Static IP Address. The technology available now allows to share an IP between many website and hence the cost of web hosting has reduced considerably.

When you need to run a secured website with https:// then definitely a dedicated IP address is a must.

Do I need a Static IP Address to link a Payment Gateway to my Website through Ezveb?

Ezveb provides Payment Gateways to our clients through Pay Pal and others. When you connect these gateways the website will be guided to the Payment Gateway providr’s website which is secured. In this case you do not need to run a secured site, hence you do not need a Static IP address.

Are there any other hidden costs in hosting a Secured Website ?

No there are no hidden costs in hosting a secured website. You'll need to get a digital certificate from a Certificate form a Authorised Certificate Provider to make your clients feel trust worthiness of your Website. You may purchase certificate from VeriSign, Thawte and Equifax Secure Etc. Certificates are not for life time. They have a limited time and validity. What is Pay Pal ? Should I have to pay to get registered ?
